Fall update

My collage piece "Round and Round We Go" was in the South Cobb Arts Alliance 24th National Juried Arts Exhibition from August 20th to October 3, 2011.

"Spiritual Journey" an acrylic abstract is currently on display in Blue Ridge in the Southern Appaclachian Artist Guild National Juried Show.  The show will be exhibited until November 12.
If you are in Blue Ridge during leaf season this is an excellent show and worth a visit to the The Art Center on West Main Street.

Scattered, Smothered and Collaged, a small works show by the Artists of the Atlanta Collage Society, is currently on display at Binders Limelight Gallery on Piedmont near Peachtree Street in Buckhead.   Visit Binders until November 11 to see the exhibit.  These small works would make excellent holiday gifts (or a gift to yourself).  I have eleven pieces displayed.

The Binders show opening reception is Oct. 30 from 3 to 5.  However, you do not have to wait until then to see the work of  approximate two dozen artists.

The current show at Gallery 4463 in Acworth will be on display until October 30.  The next show will be a Holiday Small Works Show.  Another chance to look for a gift for someone special.  The work of more than 30 artists will be available.

My recent visit to North Carolina

I recently visited friends in the mountains of NC. The NC mountains are so magnificant and provide inspiration for the soul.  When I approach Ashville and first view the mountains I always catch my breath and experience that special beauty.  My friends live at the top of a mountain and look directly at Grandfather Mountain.  The view is marvelous and you feel as though you are on top of the world (or you may be so socked in that you can see no further than the deck itself and think this is the whole world).  It is no wonder that this area inspires so much art.

While there I took advantage of attending a three day multi media and collage workshop led by Vae Hamilton. I look forward to workshop opportunities.   Every experience enhances the creative process.

Creative Fun with fine art

The Keyhole - mixed media collage 12 in. x 12 in.

I love working with color and design to create abstract works of art.  This piece developed with the assemblage of various pieces of paper of pleasing colors.  The rules that apply to more representation painting must still be considered such as color, movement, and composition.
