NEW VENUE FOR MY ART

My art is now available at a new location.   There is a new venue in Marietta, Ga. for finding  those art items that you love to place in your home or office or for the next gift need.  Art-tiques Galleria has opened at 562 Wylie Road, Suite 24, Marietta, Ga. 30067, just off the South 120 Loop, near Cobb Parkway or I-75 exit 263.  The location is easily accessible and quite attractive.    I am in  “The Square” area to the left when you enter the front door.   If you are in Marietta,  please  stop in and browse.

A number of artists and dealers have already occupied space.   You will find original art in a variety of mediums as well as antiques and collectibles.  Art-tiques Galleria offers painting parties  where you can create your own painting under the direction of a talented artist.  Check out their web page and their Face Book page for information.

QUOTES

I enjoy collecting quotes.  The quotes may be about art, or music, or how to view or live life.  I have a number of them on my desk top and look at them frequently for inspiration.  I recently read a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson and added it to my desk top.  When scrolling through some of those already collected, I discovered that this one had captured my attention some time ago.   It was already in my collection.

"Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Another that has merit is:

"Don't die with your music still inside you."  ~Wayne Dyer~

This could apply to artists in that we should not die with our art still inside.  The world needs beauty expressed, both in music and art.

Open Studio Tour A Success

Many thanks to the friends and art lovers who attended our Open Studio Tour November 3 in Kennesaw.   Everyone seemed to have a good time and I certainly did.   It was a beautiful day.  We are especially appreciative to the collectors who chose to acquire new work.   I understand that other artists on the studio tour also had a good day.  I enjoy going on studio tours myself and often do so when traveling.  The image above is of one of my paintings acquired by a collector.

Southern Appalachian Artist Guild National Juried Show

A trip to the mountains of north Georgia in the fall is a visual delight.  In addition to all the festivals, craft shows and particularly nature's show is the opportunity to visit The Art Center located in a former court house in Blue Ridge, Georgia.   note: They are closed on Mondays.  You will be delighted with the quality and quantity of the art work on display.

Accepted art work will be displayed between October 20 and November 9 for the Southern Appalachian Artist Guild National Juried Show.  My collage work From Letters to Words has been juried into this show.  The juror was William Underwood Eiland, Director of the Georgia Museum of Art.

The Art Center address is 420 West Main Street, Blue Ridge, Ga 30513.

Robert Burridge Large and Loose Abstract Workshop

I have long loved the style, design and colors of Robert Burridge and his abstract art.  When I found out that he was doing a workshop in Norcross at Kudzu Art Zone I knew I had to attend.   His appearances in the South are limited.  My friend and fellow mixed media/abstract artist Lynn Edwards and I made the trip each day.  It was worth every minute and every dollar  to attend this workshop. Bob uses collage in his pieces as support to the design, with paint being primary.  You can see his work at RobertBurridge.com

So many tips, so much information and so much inspiration.    I want to direct more energy to abstract painting again as my recent emphasis has been mixed media.

This is my latest acrylic painting. My favorite colors.
